I am grateful to have met Fr Kevin at Guardian Angels- as Fr Mike said “he was a good man” and so he was. A wonderful, holy, humorous man, humble and gentle- that brought so much to his homilies. I also went to see him, when after close to 20 yrs he was moved to St John’s. Then I saw him at St Marks. What a blessing he was in my life. He could answer any kind of scripture or theological question I had (no matter how odd). I was happy to hear how he became a Jesuit and other stories. He always answered my questions. I have missed him since he left here. I was so sad to hear he was ill and subsequently passed away. I watched the livestream service for him from Ireland. My condolences to his family and community and the many people who loved him. He will never be forgotten.
Our deepest condolences to Fr. Kevin's family, the Clongowes Wood College community, and all who were close to him. We had the great fortune to know him during the several years he was at Guardian Angels. Fr. Kevin was always warm and caring to our family, and his sense of humor always lifted our spirits. We visited him from time to time when he was at St. John the Evangelist, and he always took the time to see us after Mass. We'll always cherish our time with him in California, along with our email exchanges even after he moved back to Ireland. We consider him a spiritual Father to us. Years ago, he gave First Communion and Confession to our daughter, and just last year he remembered our daughter at Mass on the occasion of her Confirmation. We truly love him and we pray for his soul.
Fr. Casey gave the sweetest most joyful celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass to us at St Mark’s in San Marcos, California. Thanks be to God for his life and service to all.
Deepest sympathy to all Kevins family and friends. He performed the christening of my son Killian in 1993. He was a wonderful man and every time i met him with his colleagues from Greendale Declan Mick Cormac Ronan Kengie we always enjoyed the time with K C.
May you rest in Peace Kevin.
I knew Fr. Kevin Casey, when he was attached to Belvedere College in the late 1960s as a Jesuit Scholastic. He accompanied us of the school tour of Spain and Portugal in the summer of 1968. He and Fr. Jimmy Moran ensured that we had a truly fantastic holiday on that occasion.
My condolences and sympathy to the Casey family and the Jesuit community at Clongowes. Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas síoraí dá anam agus go lonraí solas suthain air. May God grant him eternal rest and may perpetual light shine upon him.
My condolences to Mr. Michael Casey and family in the passing of Fr. Kevin. I met you when you sat at dinner with me and my family at Guardian Angels. He had told me a little more detailed story of his decision to go into seminary. He was so wonderful and so kind. He was gentle and had a great sense of humor. I know Fr. MIke told me he was a “good man” and so he was. I know he is in heaven now and I have no doubt Fr Mike was waiting for him there. I have kept a picture in my room of his farewell at St. Marks which I attended. I remember him daily and will keep him in my prayers and you as well -
Rev. Fr. Casey, may you rest in peace and eternal light shine upon you.
We loved your leadersip at St. JohntheEvangelist, San Diego.

My faith is strong today in part because of these wonderful experiences with Fr Kevin.

Father Kevin's final parochial assignment was at St. Mark's Parish in San Diego County, where he served as associate pastor.

"We priests do put quite a bit of effort into our homilies, you know," he shared one Sunday a few years ago. "We do so with the hope that it might provide some bit of guidance or encouragement to the people in the pews."

He went on to explain that a few years earlier, he'd struggled more than usual, but at last had come up with a homily that tied the Gospel reading with the epistle and Old Testament reading into a timely item going on the world at the time, and was feeling not a little proud of himself for the effort.

After Mass, as he was greeting the departing parishioners, one woman stopped and told him she just loved the sermon! "So I asked her if there was a specific part she'd found most rewarding," he recalled, only to have her say, "Oh, I couldn't understand a word of it - but I just love listening to your Irish accent!"

But that was Fr. Kevin - he took his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ very seriously - himself, not at all seriously.

At 8 a.m. Mass today, Feb. 3, at our Mission church where he often said Mass in his last years here, he was remembered in both the intercessions and by the celebrant. He is missed.
Our deepest condolences to our brother Jesuits in the Irish Province and to Kevin's family. Kevin ministered here in San Diego for many years, and was a member of our community. He was much loved by the parishioners in the various parishes where he ministered. May he rest in peace.
