Sad to learn that Martin has died. I knew well as a person and as a hurler in St Flannans College. Nothing only fond memories of Martin. RIP.

I offer my sympathy to Martin’s family on his death . I knew Martin from my visits to his parish in Florida where he was always so welcoming and inclusive of me in his parish affairs . He was very well thought of by his parishioners and was never a man seeking the limelight . He was diligent in his work and sincere and committed in his priesthood . He loved chats about Ireland and Clare hurling . I had a special link with his family which allowed us share stories in that I knew his uncle Fr. John Mulqueen who had been a curate in my native parish of Birr . In recent years I had lost contact with Martin though I continue to have fond memories of him and am sorry to hear of his death . May he rest in peace and reap the reward of his faithful ministry .

So saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Martin He was such a gentle man in every way and what a beautiful sweet hurler who played for Clare minors in 1967/‘68 at centre field I had the pleasure of playing on him on a few occasions against Ruan and simply had to admire his wonderful sweet striking especially from his left in the mould of the great Tony Kelly if not quite as fast !!
