Sincere sympathy to all Father John's family. I am a blow-in to Bray. A Waterford woman, I came to Bray in 1983 and enjoyed being part of The Holy Redeemer parish. Father John was someone I admired so much and used to think, if I ever had a granddad( I never knew mine) that I would like him to be like Father John. Thank you Father John for all that you did for the parish. You have been missed since you retired and will be, going forward.

My condolences to Nora Mai and the O Connell family on the passing of Johno. My late husband Colm Kirwan and I lived in Bray for 17yrs. and got to know him very well. Colm taught in Rathdrum and when Johno paid a visit the topic of discussion was always education and of course their beloved Kerry GAA. Every kick of the ball and player were analysed over a mug of tea and sometimes something a little stronger.!!!! He was unique in every sense of the word and the wonderful farewell he received was richly deserved..Johno, it was a privilege to have known you. May your gentle and kind soul rest in peace.

Great memories of Fr.John - his ordination reception & dance at his home in Counguilla & getting out of National School in Scartaglin to serve his first masses. Another great man & cousin, Bill Costello R.I.P. who arranged that we watched rugby internationals in his rooms in the early sixties where he taught in Clonliffe College. He brought me to see my Aunt's family in Ballinteskin, Co. Wicklow & as parish priest 0f the Holy Redeemer Church in Bray he went on to baptise some of our grandchildren. A gentle man of great learning & fantastic foreslght may his many. many great deeds precede him to eternal life & may his gentle & humane soul reast in heavenly peace.
