He was a very lovely, calm, unassuming man with a very gentle presence. When he was Dean of Limerick, he was so good to my parents, my sister and I, when we lost our grandparents very close together. He visited us frequently and we never forgot him and your Mum, they were both so lovely. We were delighted to meet him and your Mum again over the years, Mary, when Alvin became friends with Ben. We are so sorry we can't make it down to the funeral but you are all in our thoughts and prayers. "In the hearts of those that love you, you will always be there".

Rev George was a quiet, unassuming, brilliant, caring man and we enjoyed attending his services at Adare Church. He loved to have children in the congregation and just smiled and carried on when one of ours occasionally ended up on the pulpit!

I have known Reverend George William since his appointment as rector of Adare Union of parishes in 1961 and he has been a family friend ever since. Revd George gave me great encouragement in my own journey to ordination which I am for ever grateful.
To sum up Revd George Williams life as a priest, I quote from Archbishop Michael Ramsey. He was a man of theology, man of reconciliation, man of prayer, man of the Eucharist; displaying, enabling, involving the life of the Church - such is the ordained priest, this was George William Chambers.
May George William rest in peace and rise in glory.
