I was shocked and saddened to hear of Rhona's recent and, as others have said, untimely, passing.
I only saw the notice of her death on the morning of her funeral and was sorry not to be able to pay my respects in person, but was glad to be able to view online. I worked with her, in Current Affairs, in my early years in RTÉ and she was a lovely, supportive colleague. She was a calm and reliable presence in that department, synonymous with it, and a backbone of it. She was a great example of dedication.
My deepest condolences to Harry (who she spoke of so frequently in my time there) and to her mother, sisters and extended family. She'll be sorely missed in the RTÉ community.

We are so saddened and shocked to hear of Rhona's untimely passing and our heartfelt sympathy to Harry and her extended family and friends. Her energy, insight and sense of fun were a joy to behold. I had the privilege of knowing Rhona in St Andrew's. Rhona was one of the kindest people I have ever met and an amazing mother. Everyone who spent time in her company were the richer for it. Harry, we are just so truly sorry for your terrible loss.

So shocked about Rhona’s untimely passing.
From first meeting her as a junior researcher in Today Tonight and then years later joining the Prime Time team as a new prod/director, Rhona had your back, had amazing ‘can do’ attitude, always in good form & calm under the pressures of deadlines in a constantly busy current affairs dept. Yet she had the time for a more personal word or the latest story, a twinkle in the eye and laugh.
Over the years after leaving RTE, I bumped into her usually at the coffee dock, about to pitch our latest ‘bright idea’ to rte snr management - we’d pick up where we left off, always with her smile and good humour- she had that skill and personality to make you feel it’s going to turn out right. To her family, colleagues and many friends - my heartfelt sympathies. RIP Rhona.

I was so saddened and shocked to learn of Rhona’s untimely passing. Rhona was a lady full of personality, charm, wit, warmth, mischief, fun and character, a beautiful smile, constant glint in her eye combined with her beautiful attired unique style. A wonderful storyteller, raconteur and someone who had a genuine interest in you and your family. We had so many fun and memorable times together in our 20’s / 30’s. We met less frequently in recent decades but still met up a few times a year. She talked lovingly about her beautiful son Harry and how proud she was of the young mature man he is today. So terribly sad that she has left us and her loved ones way to soon. The eulogies at the Mass were beautiful and captured her so perfectly. Rhona was always so friendly with a most endearing smile. On meeting Rhona a year ago we said would meet on retirement. I noted from programme credits that Rhona was busy working. We were work colleagues in RTE in the 90’s. Her beautiful smile and gentle charm would light up a sometimes very gloomy office.

Rhona was the glue for a lot of productions I saw her organise often with inexperienced staff who suddenly knew where to go for all the answers. So sorry to hear this sad news of the passing of a lovely person.
