Hey big man where do I start it still doesn’t feel real, you were & forever will be the greatest man I’ve ever known, not only were u my Granda u also covered the job of been my dad, all the tough times I put u through & u never treated me any different u just done whatever it took to get me back on track. Thank u 4 visiting me in my dreams, u have giving me the strength to get over this illness I’ve had that I never taught was gonna go away, when u came into my room at Xmas & told me that u were gonna help me get through this u kept to ur word to the end but I don’t believe that this is the end I still feel u with me at the times where I need reassurance, I’ll continue to talk to u when I feel ur presence & I know u had a giggle at what I was saying to u this morning. You & mags gave me the greatest childhood I could have wished for & any good that is in me came from u both, my two hero’s. I will stick to my promise I gave to u. I will be happy if I turn out to be half the man that u were. Well it’s almost time for me to go back on my journey to becoming the man u raised me to be so while I’m gone please look after my reason for living Caroline & Ava & give strength to my big bro Richie & stay at all times with the most amazing woman god has ever put on this earth which is the incredible Mags. It's taken me time to write what I want to say because I still can't believe your gone. You were always so good to us growing up & spoilt us rotten I remember being in Gaga's on a Sunday & you would come down in your Dubs jersey number 10 on the back for Barney have a good fry & head off to the game. Mam would say after the game if the Dubs won you won't see Richard again today.I will never forget you ringing me every week after Mam passed away & getting me the canvas of me & her. We didn't see each other that often but when we did we clicked and always had a good chat. The send off you got was unreal & we'll deserved there are not many people that leave this world and nobody has anything bad to say about them your exactly like Ag all about family & not yourself. You were a true Gentleman & I loved you so much for that never the center of attention but always there whenever you're family needed you & enjoyed having a laugh. You had so much to live for & you we're taken so soon cruelly. But you have such a good family on the other side waiting for you & you are going to be well looked after, you have been the best Brother, Uncle, Husband, ,Dad, Grandad & you will never be forgotten. I knew Richie since I came into the post office in 1972. I was shocked today to hear of his passing on the Joe Duffy show. He was a real gentleman and always up for a laugh. R.I.P. Richie. Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam.

Dear Margaret and Family. Peace be with you all. It was with great sadness that I heard of the death of Richard. May the Lord have mercy on his Holy Soul. We grew up together and clonhaston meant so much to us, when Richard came from Dublin and I came from Enniscorthy. He was always a gentleman of the highest order full of life and full of fun. I have so many memories of him that I will treasure for years to come.
Take care of yourselves as you travel through this dark time. You will be constantly in my Prayers. Holy Mass will be celebrated for him soon. God Bless you all.

Margaret so sorry to hear of Richie's death , We were great Friends when We both worked in the Post Office in Sheriff st . We had many great times together , I considered him a great friend ! I spoke to Richie a couple of weeks ago & We had a good laugh reminiscing about old times ! Im so shocked that he is no longer with us ! Our thoughts are with you Margaret & all the Family ! I have had the pleasure of knowing Richie since the early seventies. We worked together in the Post Office in cso Sheriff St Dublin. We ended up best friends and went everywhere together
Richie then met the love of his life Margaret and I moved back to Carlow but we always stayed in contact to the present day I want to say thanks to Richie for all the great memories we had together and now may he rest in peace.

I don't know how to start to put into words the heartfelt sorrow and pain that has followed upon your passing richie, the send off you got on Saturday just proves how much you are cared for, you were a true gent always looked after my mam when she was down to visit me, always made sure she got home safe that's just a short version of the man your were.. I hope your now in the angels arms resting and your two lovely children around you, I know you will look after Margaret and Caroline and ava lily and the rest of your beautiful family, you are and will continue to be deeply missed
