So sorry to hear of Mr.Canney's passing. Great memories of my childhood education in St.Joseph's N.S. in Mell.
He had a brilliant talent in methods of teaching which unfortunately are very rare in today's world. Thank you Mr. Canney you will always be loved and remembered, you were a huge part of so many lives young and old.
May your family treasure all the memories and I pray with the help of God they will find strength to overcome such a huge loss in their lives. R.I.P.

Uncle Dick was a class man who reared a fine family. I will always remember when I was about aged 8 and off school with the flu in Laois, he sent me down a book of a lifetime -The Brer Rabbit Book, By Enid Blyton. It has always stuck with me and possibly the one thing that got me through primary and interested in reading when I had no interest. Agnes and Dick visiting our household was the highlight of every year when we were young - precious times and wonderful to look back on. Uncle Dick RIP.
A much loved and admired Uncle. You were a true inspiration to us all and have left us with wonderful memories of our trips down the fields. Rest In Peace now Uncle Dick. Love you always Conor, David and Clare. Mum and dad will look after you xxxx
