My sincere sympathy to the Coughlan family on the death of Richard. On many occasions he welcomed me to his home to see his fine selection of literary and historical records. He was really a Limerick treasure living in our city and the expositions of cultural artefacts he held in Halla Íde, Thomas Street were very special. Beannacht Dé lena anam uasal. And My deepest sympathy to his daughter, Miriam, and his grand-daughter, Fiona, both of whom we met in Halla Íde.

My sincere condolences to Miriam, Siobhán and John & extended family of my Uncle Richard. I have great memories of the Treaty Cafe and all of the wonderful times we have spent there, including many of the family eating around the massive dinner table for new year 2000 celebrations. I even remember my first job there as a kid...opening the plastic from the 24 pack tray of coke cans and stocking the shelves. My "pay" was a can of coke I recall, and some chips :-) May you rest in peace Uncle Richard x

To a big brother who always looked out for me, shared my love of music and show bands and gave me a lifetime of happy memories to hold onto. You will missed deeply and never far from our thoughts. Thinking especially of his beloved Children and grandchildren during this difficult time.

Deepest sympathies to the Coughlan and Hogan families. A great and dedicated family man who was exceptionally proud of his family and went out of his way to help others in need. Many Irish Showbands of the 60's and 70's owe Richard a huge debt of gratitude for his assistance over the years. To me he was a good friend and I have many fond memories of our times together. Rest in Peace Richard.

I have such fond memories of the many wonderful late night conversations that I had over many years with Richard who had in-depth knowledge of and opinions on everything under the sun. A very special person whose love of Limerick and especially the people of The Parish was incalculable. May he now rest in peace.

Some of my fondest childhood memories are of the Treaty Cafe and all of the wonderful family moments we have spent together there. Many nights spent listening to Uncle Richard playing his vinyl records of the Showband years, and even more memories of wondering in awe through his vast book collection. Uncle Richard was a revered historian on all things Limerick and was generous with his time for those who had an interest to hear it. I will miss these chats and will forever keep you close in my heart. May you rest in peace Uncle Richard xxx
