I only heard of Dick’s passing deepest sympathy to Dolores and all the family,I have lovely memories of a really nice neighbour who was an absolute gentleman. May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

We offer our deepest sympathy to Dolores, beloved wife of Dick and his adored family Sandra, Sharon, Jacinta and Dermot and their extended families on their sad loss. I have worked with Dick over many long years and will always cherish the many many times we spent together. He was a man of tremendous character a great family man, who were always foremost in his care. He was also a man of great faith which helped to sustain him over the last few years. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. I particulary will miss the lenghty conversations we had resolving the affairs of state and that of the Dubs.

On behalf of my brothers Tom and Bill and myself I would like to offer our condolences to Dolores and family on Dick’s passing.He was our neighbour across the road from our home in Donabate when all his family were babies and young children before the family moved to Seaview park.So many fond memories and chats with Dolores and himself over the years.A wonderful husband to you Dolores and father to your children.It is a long time now since we chatted .As far as I remember we all bumped in to one another in The Bons Secours Hospital,when we had respective appointments with consultants.A long time ago now.I feel for you all as a family as Richard was your rock.He will be truely missed by the long term parishioners of Donabate and Portrane.Mind yourselves Anne and brothers Tom and Bill.

With your kind assistance and help, I was able to catch the train I was due to travel on back in the 1960s when I would race down past the signal box and run across the line as the train was about passing by Ballisk, You saw me, ticked me off shook your head, and with your watchful eye together with Patsy I was in time for work each day.

I met Richard at Tara Winthrop Pvt Clinic when I was working as an HCA and he was a caring father to all of us in the Erris unit. Even after I left Tara I kept checking on him because of his good heart. He encouraged me to go back to school, and I was planning to tell him I got a place at DCU, I know he would have been so proud of me. MHSRIEP.
