Sincere sympathies to son's Kieran & Paul, sister Pat, and their extended families. Though my connection with Dick has eroded over time, the memories shared will never be erased. I first saw him playing for St Catherines in the East Cork junior A final in 1957, about 7 years later he was a frequent caller to my home to bring me to matches in his black Morris Minor, meeting his smiling face and listening to his assurance that you were a vital cog on the team, which was par for the course with all players. How can I ever forget the memory from 1969 travelling to Carrigtowhill with Dick for the East Cork B football final, the ultimate goal was achieved when St Catherines won their first ever football title, as we travelled home in jubilant mood via Dungourney , there was talks of maybe seeing blazing bonfires in Ballynoe, these notions stopped quickly when the Morris Minor blazed sending steam into the air, an unruffled Dick calmly coaxed the car to halt outside a rivals home near Dungourney, after a top up we finally made it back to Conna.
Dick had many virtues , one was his scouting ability to unearth unaffiliated players from outside the parish or via the CIE network.
My work brought me to Kent station frequently, I usually ran into Dick where a discussion only concluded by outside intervention , this rang a bell with me after I listened to the same viewpoint in the enlightening eulogy from Kieran . May Dick Rest In Peace

I have fond memories of travelling to Ballynoe N.S Sciath na Scol matches with Dick. I always enjoyed our chats and admired his neverending enthusiasm for St. Catherine's G.A.A. He was a great man to train the kids in Ballynoe N.S every week and always great to find lost sliothars at training and matches. A lovely gentleman. Rest in Peace Dick. You will be missed around St. Catherine's G.A.A grounds.
