Dick and my paths crossed in Swords forty years ago as a barman in the Lord Mayors. I want above all to add my words to all those expressed already here; an absolute gentleman. A superb barman I can add. Time, circumstances and distance meant we never met again but a man I never forgot. I felt I was with him again and you all this morning as I tuned in. Very sad indeed but all of us who knew Dick it was an honour to have known him. I loved the petrol strike story. Do you know I could just imagine 'unflappable' Dick, coming out to serve petrol to all the waiting clergy. Done with his never changing courtesy. To wife Colette you were lucky to have him for all that 58 years. But sad indeed now that he's gone. But to his Eternal Reward. He's there.
To sons Martin and Paul, a lovely da no doubt. Paul that tribute was only lovely. True to life about your father. I regret I never got to meet Dick again.
