I have been away and only just seen of Dickie's death. I moved to Bantry 3 years ago and he was one of the first people we met. It was a joy to have known him, my sympathies to all his family.

Sincere condolances shared with Dickie's Family on his sudden and sad departure from this world, I met Dickie with his roguish smile in '79 with Chisty O'Shea (The Wrapper) when Christy was building stone walls and fireplaces in our new home built by Nicholas McCarthy (Junior) from Burryruagh, most of the stone work was built with stone from Burke's quarry near Skibbereen, Christy felt the work needed another dimension to it, so we struck out for Kealkill and Dickie Poke the stone cut by Dickie brought a special feeling and character to our home which we share to this day with our children, grandchildren and anybody who takes the time to sit with us, Christy brought me a bucket of chisels and dressing hammers to dress, harden and temper for Dickie and himself, I got no bad report back, an honour from mighty tradesmen, Thanks Dickie, Christy and Junior and may all you rest in eternal peace.
