Dearest family of the great Mr Rock although I am too young to appreciate your dear father my parents were very much big fans of your dad during the great show band era ..He entertained the nation for many years and was very much loved by the generations that have passed before us and are with us still … may his gentle soul forever rest in eternal peace with his beloved wife and son .. may his memory forever be appreciated and loved by the nation...a true gentleman remember with love .rest in peace dickie .. watch over your family….and may god bless you

The committee and members of the Dodder Anglers’ Association would like to pass on our condolences to the family of Dickie Rock on the sad news of his passing on from this life.  Our association with Dickie goes back to the late 1960s, when the Miami showband was at its peak of its fame with him as a singer. The band was established in Dublin in 1962 by impresario Tom Doherty. Somebody in the Dodder Anglers at the time knew Tom well and asked him if he would donate a trophy to the Dodder Anglers that would be called after the Miami band. This he did and that is how the Miami fly-fishing competition on the River Dodder began, a competition open to any fly-fisher, Dodder members and non-members. But more than that, for Dickie Rock presented the trophy to the winner of one or two of the competition. The winner of the first Miami Cup was John Murphy, the next two by our current treasurer, Brendan Whelan. Both the Miami and its most famous singer Dickie Rock will be remembered for as long as fly-fishermen fish that mid-summer competition on the River Dodder.

I toured Ireland for 33 shows with Dickie in 2013. I was Emerald Elvis at the time, he told me how much he loved Elvis and we often sung backstage at venues. He told me his favourite fragrance was Chanel Bleu Eu Da Parfum and i have always bought it since. He would always come to the side of backstage to watch me perform up and down the country and also DJ Curtin. We had a great time. I loved his dress sense. Impecable. Richard Jr you brought the house down in Cabrah today and did Dad so proud. Dickie invited me to the restraunt in Dublin. I look forward to going to see a great new show, The Songs of My Father starring Richard Rock some day. It will be a smash as you sound so lile your Dad. RIP Dickie and Judy and Joseph

Lord have mercy on Dickie.We had wonderful times dancing to the great songs of you dad in the 70ths. He was made for the stage and did embrace it very well. His love for your mother Judy was admiral. Dick / Dickie is a very special name for me. Love each other and always remember your dear mother and father xxxxx
