Dear Richard. My prayers and thoughts are with you now that you've finally left this world, hopefully into the arms of Jesus and Mary. You'll be sadly missed. You were the perfect gentelman and an inspiritation to us all. It is with sadness that I knew you for only one year, but true to say; in that time i learned all about humility. Richard was a kind soul whom we knew from daily Mass in Waterford. We enjoyed bumping in to him at the Cathedral, the Friary, and St. John's. Indeed- so many places in town. May his family know peace and consolation during this time of loss.

I knew Richard for many years through Latin Mass and Legion of Mary. A lovely gentle guy but I could see him failing in past few months.

Richard was a great man to go to Mass at many different churches throughout the city. A gentleman and when walking around the city he was most likely going to his next Mass. He will have a special place above.

Often saw Richard out and about in the city centre and spoke to him on a number of occasions and was struck by his gentle nature. May He Rest in Peace.

My sincere condolences for the sudden loss of Richard. He was a huge part of Central Library which was opposite his home in Lady lane Residence. We saw him daily in the library and was always pottering about the town, the chats always so positive and friendly. Richard had a smile no matter what, the most pleasant person I have had the pleasure of meeting, fiercely independent and widely read, he will be missed a lot by all the staff in the library.
