So saddened to hear of Richie’s passing. I was lucky to have played alongside Richie on Meath teams until a knee injury cut short his promising career. Deepest sympathy to Maureen, Robert, Connor & Andrew and the extended family. Richard was a such a lovely boy to teach. He was very shy when I had him in First and Second class. I remember when the monkey Victoria came to the school a beautiful smile broke across his face when it was his turn to hold the monkey. We are both heartbroken to hear of his untimely death. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

My sincerest condolences to Maureen, Robert, Connor & Andrew and the extended family. Richie or 'Dick' as he was called on the pitch, was an incredible guy and it is with such a heavy heart that I am writing this message.
Your son and brother was genuinely the most unassuming person you could meet. An outstanding athlete with a huge heart and serious grit and determination when playing rugby. He was just a class act all round.
Reunited now with Robin - his number one fan and supporter. Your incredible smile anytime we met will be missed big time.

Richie was the first rugby player to show me what 110% actually meant. His extraordinary commitment to life has made an indelible imprint on so many people who were blessed to be in his circle.
Coaching him on the rugby field was an eye-opener. I said to Robin after an early match, “does he actually ever speak”? He was very like his Dad in so many ways. The greatest of these was that there was never any ego or arrogance, just a quiet resolve. A belief.
Loved by all in Castleknock, I can never remember him missing a tackle on his opposite number. He only had to be given an instruction ONCE.
He was earmarked by the great Sean Boylan for the GAA and the green jersey of Meath. He was starring for Lansdowne’s under 20’s and took home an All-Ireland u20’s winning medal for Lansdowne. I figured he was heading for the ‘other green jersey’ of Ireland, he was that good. A bad knee injury put paid to that.
Up he got again, on the bike to become one of the best amateur cyclists in the country. Magical, a beast, an icon.
He now rests in the safest hands of his beloved Dad Robin. We mourn a gentle, kind, funny,exceptional human being. The outpouring from Castleknock, Lansdowne and from his many friends will brighten a lot of conversations over the next while. The night life escapades I will leave to the lads to tell. And yes, he was a legendary ‘messer’ too !! One thing is for sure, Richie Rennicks will live long in the memory. MQ x
