I worked in the bookies in Kilmallock for a number of years and have very fond memories of Richie coming in. He loved the chats and many a great story he would tell and off course he loved to talk about limerick hurling. He loved a Fry's chocolate bar and got me hooked on them for a while too. May his gentle kind soul rest in peace.

Sympathy to Eileen, Breda and all the family. Richie was a legend in Ballinlee. Many's the chat we had when I met him walking back the road. He had all the stories going back decades and I got some ideas for my own writing from him including the title of my forthcoming book.

Met Richie a few times and most recently Sunday last he had a pint and a hennessy in newport not too long back he was so special the publican opened for him a great character knew everyone around tipperary. Rip Richie from martin roche a tipperary man as Richie used say in the long grass.
