It was with great sadness we heard of Richard's passing.
As a childhood friend and neighbour of Richard and the late Harold we enjoyed many wonderful times together. The Stone family were the first to have a television in the area- they educated us on many topics including club football in England-Richard and Harold had their favourite clubs back then in the sixties.
Their house was full to capacity on All Ireland days- they loved their sports.
The sighting of the Leprechaun around 1960 at Skehana Bridge which went 'viral' on local and national papers was another great experience we shared.
Richard went on to be a great Sports Reporter and we always tuned in to him at weekends.
We extend our deepest condolence to his family and friends.

My sincerest and wholehearted condolences on the passing of Richie. I was very sad to hear of his passing. When I think back to my childhood in Ballyragget, Richie Stone was a huge and influential part of my youth. He not only touched my life profoundly but touched the lives of so many children who wore the maroon and white for so many years. But not only that, his committment and public service was a testament to his service to the local community. He probably didnt get the accodlades that he throughly deserved for all his work and time but my memory of him with a hurley in his hand and that of his lively banter will live with me forever. May he stroll the sidelines of the heavenly fields commenting to the refs, as only he could. Godspeed Richie, may you rest in eternal peace!
