Jill, my deepest sympathies to you and your family on Richards passing. His return to the sea, after his eventful river run, is done, may he rest in peace.
Dear Jill and the family,
Richard was a wonderful character and I still have fond memories of him and Amancio playing guitar together during those lovely holidays at Bunnaghbokee. The life and soul of the party. I know it's been really tough for you, watching his health decline. His energy and love of life will live on with all of us lucky enough to have known him. Much love, Joyce
Dear Bernadette and Dominic, I am very sorry for you loss. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and visit with Richard and Jill for holidays past during my roommate days with Marthannah, and I feel our families will always be connected in some way. I remember Richard’s keen wit, mischievous eyes, and love of music. My thoughts and condolences are with the family - may you ever treasure your memories.
I have many fond memories of Christmases spent with my "Chrstmas Dad." I will forever mourn that there will be no more. A talented, vibrant, lively soul has been extinguished and the world will be a lesser place for the loss. Rest in peace Christmas Dad.
I am so so sorry to hear of Richard's passing and my thoughts are with the family at this time.
Richard like all of the family was a formative presence in my childhood.
I loved his sense of humour and his guitar playing and passion for music. He was also what I would call an encouraging person. I also enjoyed his stories from travels.
I was saddened to hear of his situation when I saw Jill in August. I hated the idea of such a free spirit being cooped up. So there is a sense of relief also. I don't doubt that his adventurous spirit is already on to new projects.
We will all miss Richard greatly.
Love to all the family.
Dear Mr Stevens, I knew you best through my dearest friend, Marthannah (although we did meet at least once in Puerto Rico) who always kept me updated on your struggles with ill health. Now you have been released from that state, free to move on to whatever comes next after a long life, well lived. To your family, I offer my deepest condolences on your loss of such a dear father, husband, etc. I am so sorry for your loss. sarveṣāṃ śāntir bhavatu - may you all be peaceful.
My heartfelt sympathy to you Jill and the family on your great loss .
May happy memories of Richard give you comfort .
Keep him in your hearts and conversations .
Richard was a fun guy, but also a professional. I remember that when he joined Kindle from ICL we considered a great coup. He upped our game considerably all the while with a greai sense of humour. Thanks Richard for this and for all the fun.
Dear Jill, my sincere condolences to you and the family on Richard’s passing. Thinking of you at this very sad time. Martina
Sincere condolences to the family. May the cherished memories bring you all comfort and strength in the days ahead.
To Dominic and family,

Sending my deepest sympathies on the passing of your father/husband. Kindest regards from Miriam and all in your studio classes at TU Dublin.
I have Richard to blame for meeting my husband, Michael and having 3 gorgeous girls having interviewed me and offered me a position in Kindle. My first trip abroad travelling with Richard to Budapest turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. Unbeknownst to me Richard snuck out of the hotel late at night to go to a jazz club. On his way back he was knocked down in a hit and run accident resulting in a badly fractured leg injury. I got news of the incident the next morning from the Hotel Manager. Anne Creedon and myself spent the next few days dealing with translaters, Doctors, Insurance companies, HR, airlines etc in order to get him home safely to his lovely wife Jill. It was a wonder I stayed in Kindle after that but how could I not? I was working for one of the best project managers in the business, a great mentor and friend.
News of Richard's passing reached Michael and I too late to attend his funeral which we would dearly have loved to attend. We will raise a glass in his memory.
Dear Dominic, my deepest sympathies on the passing of your father. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h'anam.
My deepest sympathies to Jill and family on Richard's passing. I have many happy memories of times with Richard in the Kindle era in Colombia - one specifically of a night when just myself and he attended a Salsa club to see the legendary "La Sonora Poncena" play. As we were going back to our building we then encountered a Mariachi band serenading a disgruntled lady being begged for forgiveness . We joined the assorted throng and shared an Aguardiente (or two...) until a happy outcome was achieved. Never to be forgotten.
My sincere condolences to Jill and the family on Richard’s passing. I was lucky to work with, and learn from him over many years in Kindle. He was great fun and a wonderful raconteur. I will always remember his warmth and kindness to Neo and I while we were together in Colombia. He will be greatly missed.
So sorry to hear of Richard's death.
I have met him in Colombia, were he was leading a project for a local bank, with Kindle. he was a great example to all the Irish colleagues working on this project and despite all the social busy activities he was always on top of all his responsibilities for the project and keeping everyone busy . He loved the local salsa and in general all latin music, loved the food and discovering new places .He was a great character, and we have many great memories with him, he will be missed.
All my condolences to Jill and Richard's family
So very sorry to learn of Richard s death, Jill. What a great loss for you and the family.
. I always enjoyed the occasions when we met, usually at the NCH.
May he enjoy the “Music in the courts of Heaven”.
Dear Jill,
Thinking of you and your family at this very sad time. I can only imagine what a tough time it has been for you over the past years. I am at home with a bug so cannot make the funeral but hope to meet you for a coffee soon.
Much love
Nessa
I was saddened to hear of Richard's passing.
I worked for him in Kindle, the first time in Budapest where he always hauled me off to the Opera House whenever he visited, and always managed to secure tickets without a word of the language - usually from stood-up suitors losing hope of their partner turning up. He had a wide appreciation for music, especially jazz and opera, and always got the most fascinating life or family histories from whomever he sat beside on a plane.
He was a great character, and will be missed.
All my condolences to Jill and Richard's family -
Anne Creedon
It was a pleasure to work with Richard in Kindle many years back. He was a real gentleman. Sorry for your loss.
Jill,

I was so sorry to hear from Augusta of Richard’s death. It seems so recently that I would see you both at lunch in the RDS.

He was always so nice to meet, interesting and entertaining.

My deepest sympathy to you and your children.

Mary McCarthy
I am so very sorry to hear of Richard's death. He was a great guy, much respected by all who worked with him in Kindle in Ireland, South America and across the globe. I always looked on Richard as someone to admire and emulate and I will remember him as a guide and example. Rest in peace.
Deepest sympathy to Jill and all the family on the death of a beloved husband, father and grandfather. May Richard rest in peace.
Dear Dominic, please accept the heartfelt condolences of me and all our colleagues on the Construction side of the School of Architecture, Building & Environment.

Very saddened to hear of Richard‘s death. He was a lovely man. We enjoyed many nights back in the 70s in the ICL days. May he rest in peace
My sincere sympathy to Jill on the death of your beloved Richard. We shared many fun occasions over the years. Jazz mornings. Evenings at the National Concert Hall. Dinner parties chez Stevens. May you & Marthanna & Dominic be consoled in your loss. I wish you the support of extended family, friends & neighbours. Your ucd family will be here for you. Love & Sympathy.
Hi Dominic
We are sorry to hear of your father's passing away. We hope it was peaceful
Please accept our condolences and pass them on to all your family. Andy
Deepest condolences to Dominic and to all of Robert's family and friends. May he rest in peace.
What a lovely photograph of Richard and that's how I like to remember him. I so enjoyed meeting him in Buswell's Hotel over the few months that I worked with him on his stories. He shared many of his adventures with me and what a fascinating life he had. He always liked an Intercontinental Hotel and I agree with him on that. Condolences to my friend Dominic, his mother Jill and sister Marthanna.
