Shocked to see the obituary in todays Times.
Worked closely with Richie when I was heading the Department's Aquaculture Division in the early days of fish farming over some five years.
Always a joy to deal with, good humoured yet fully committed to developing salmon farming and latterly shellfish culture.His contribution to regional development and sustainable jobs in rural coastal communities will be a huge legacy.
My sincere condolences to his all his family and friends.

As a reporter I have known Richie over the years and I have met him and been in his company many times.

we at EBCD and i in particular have had the opportunity to work with him for over 20 years and admired his commitment and intelligence throughout. Richie made a great contribution to the world of European aquaculture and he will be remembered for that. He will be missed!!

A very sad news. I met Richie a lot of times in Brussels during the meetings with the European Commission. I always appreciated his competence and commitment.
