Rob welcomed every student as they were and made everyone feel cared for and included, even those of us who weren't drawn to sport. His kindness and support were felt well beyond his classes and I'll remember him with gratitude. May he rest in peace.

It was with deep regret that I heard of Robin’s death. I was Ipswich Town’s public relations officer between 1974 and 1984, and I shared one of the happiest occasions of my life alongside Robin on the bench at Wembley for Town’s FA Cup final victory over Arsenal. It will never be forgotten how Robin’s two goals in our victory at Bristol Rovers in an earlier round kept us in the competition. Without his key contribution, not forgetting he also played in the semi-final triumph over West Bromwich Albion, arguably the club’s most memorable success simply would never have happened. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and the many pupils inspired by his tutorship over his years as a teacher.
