Robert Andrew (Rob) Phayre

I remember with great fondness the long summers of my youth, when you welcomed me into your home and invited me to share in your family life. Though those visits were brief, they left a lasting impression. In recent years, I valued our text conversations, often around birthdays, when you congratulated me on my family and I was glad to do the same for yours.

Thank you for your kindness, your humour, and your quick wit. Thank you for watching Star Trek with us and for opening your home to me and the other members of Chester College. Your passing was a sad day, but I will continue to remember you warmly, with the hope that my own family thinks of me as fondly as yours thinks of you.

I feel honoured to have called Bob a friend. I treasure the memories of the long lunches we shared where we put the world to rights. He was a wonderful, caring man who adored his family. He talked non stop about you all. When the Grandchildren came along he was so proud of them and he kept us up to date on all their achievements. What a terrible loss to you all but what a wonderful lifetime of memories you have to hold on to.

Dear Anne and Family, I am so sorry to hear about Rob’s passing and my heart goes out to you all. When mum died in 2010-Nuala Kieran-that’s when Robert and I began connecting and every year he would always send messages to wish me and my children a happy birthday.

Rob was such a special man - I first met him over 20 years ago and he made such a lasting impression on me with his curiosity about the world, his joie de vivre and his kindness.
