Deepest sympathy to Ann,Cathy,Michael,PJ,John,Vanya,Tania, Darragh,Rebecca,Helen and the extended Gaynor family on the sudden and sad passing of your beloved Bob. He was a force of nature and won people over with his perennial positivity, warm smile, vitality, mischievous Clare humour and overall charm. His mind sparkled with curiosity and his enthusiasm ,calm confidence and passion for life were infectious (as St.Peregrines GAA will attest to!).
He touched the lives of many, as evidenced by the massive turnout at the church service, and will not be forgotten
To live in the minds of those we leave behind is not to die.
Over recent years, he displayed great dignity ,courage and resilience in his fight against a cruel and merciless disease. He is gone too soon and his days here were far too brief.
He deserved the authentic and emotional eulogies at the moving,respectful requiem mass and would have loved the genuine warmth and affection displayed by so many of his long-standing and loyal Dublin friends.

In the words of Patrick Kavanagh:

"Oh you are not lying in the wet clay,
For it is a harvest evening now
And we are piling up the ricks against the moonlight
And you smile up at us...eternally"

As Bob would say as Gaeilge: Ni bheidh a leitheid aris ann.

Very sorry to hear about Bob. I have great memories of fun & mischief down at the Quay when we were kids. My condolences to all the Gaynor family.

I knew him from attending matches involving St Peregrines GAA club, with whom my grandsons Jack and James plays. I only knew him for a short time but he made a big impression on me. Bob was a special man and the number of people attending today, shows how very respected he was.
As promised:
Bob Gaynor was a man of honor and a man of respect,
example to follow in every aspect.
His leadership was known by many and wide,
whether home or abroad his discipline was tide.
Yes, he was stikt and very demanding,
pushing all borders fearless of colliding.
No, he was not a tyrant of any kind,
just a man, complex but kind.
To me, he was both caring and loving,
and for him my heart will be longing.
Today we gather to say farewell to his body,
"His spirit will be by your side!" told me somebody.
I believe he is here now, both smiling and crying,
for leaving us too early from unfortunate dying.
I will follow your teachings and advises my love,
just watch over me high from above.
Yes, I remember what you said to me ones,
"Don't dwell and move one, one day when I am gone!".
It's still hard to believe that this day have now came,
it's seems like a nightmare to me, a prank or a bad game.
Sadly pinching doesn’t help and I can't wake up,
this bad game of life have no reset button or any backup.
I admitted defeat on December 7th and at 10:53 PM I send him to heavan.
I wish that his benevolent spirit have afterlife in peace,
with no worries or dispirit, just afterlife of gracie,
surrounded by many love ones and friends,
enjoying Guinness daily as well as football weekends.
I promise you love I will stay strong and move on,
I know you will come and collect me on my death dawn
