My heart and loving condolences with fondest memories go out to Bob’s family and especially Maeve, whom I first met as a scruffy boy, in the State Lab. in the 50s. beautiful and charming, with my cousin Nuala Gogan.
All will remember Bob as the professional efficient publican in Kiely’s of Donnybrook, but I remember him as Bob the kind concerned uncle of Finbarr Lloyd my classmate in Gonzaga, whom he took under his wing aged 9 when his father died, advising him (not always taken) and guiding him for many years, earning his gratitude and respect which we often recalled.
He leaves a large legacy of fond kind fun memories which hopefully will console his family today and in the future.
May he rest in peace.
