Today my dad is going on his final journey after so many through his life. I have to watch his funeral like so many others from Cambridge UK not how you would ever imagined having to do. The support as my brother Bob says has been very comforting to us all. Dad would like that and he always loved Ireland, as we all do. He was very happy in Clonmore Carlow and said they look after the old people very well, they care about us. He had great support from everyone there through the last year, and even when he was snowed in a few years back. He was thankful to the neighbours, the post master in Hacketstown, the chemist who sorted out his medications, his gardener Martin, his friend in Hacketstown who fixed his car, but was a good friend who he often mentioned. He goes to rest today but would want me to say thankyou to you all whom he never got the chance to speak to in his final weeks. Thanks for all the messages from Ballyknocken, Blessington, Manor Kilbride, Tallaght. He had a good life and a good retirement and he loved you all. Thanks for making his journey through life a lovely one.
God Bless you all and every time you hear an accordian remember my dad who wishes you all to be living a good normal life soon. Stay well everyone.

From what I remember you were a welcoming kind man. I just wish I had got the chance to spend more time together.

You helped my dad get a job when he moved to Dublin out of the kindness of your heart. That was just the type of person you were. I think everyone will remember you for your love of music, you were always up to perform for everybody spreading joy.

I am so saddened and shocked at this news. Condolences to Jackie, Robert and Betty. On behalf of Sheila my mother who unfortunately is in hospital at this time and unable to comment I know Bobby played a huge part in her life and he will be sorely missed and we are all saddened by his untimely passing. There will be a huge accordian party in heaven waiting for you Bobby. RIP

Sorry to hear of the loss of our uncle Robert in Ireland. We have a lot of memories of him in good times with our late mum and dad in Cambridgeshire. Sorry to aunty Betty, our cousins Bob and Jackie, and our great cousins Claire Rachael and Callum. R.I.P uncle Bob

My heart is broken at the loss of my dearest father. He worked very hard when myself and my brother Bob were growing up to give us a good childhood and lovely memories. He loved playing his accordion at home and around the pubs in Blessington and Hacketstown. He was originally from Dublin but loved the countryside and that is where he has spent most of his life. He and my mother had a unique friendship that never faded. I would like to thank my mother and my brother Bob and his partner Caroline for all the care and support they gave to my dad in his final days. They always looked out for him before his illness. I would also like to thank his lovely neighbours in Clonmore who also looked out for dad during this terrible pandemic. I will always remember the great times singing along with dad and miss him coming over to the U.K
I am devastated at his loss and that I cannot be with my family in Ireland to give him the send off that he deserves. Dad will always be in my heart wherever I am and I am thankful that I got to spend some time with him before all the madness. I would also like to thank the staff at the Tallaght hospital who spent time looking after and comforting my father. I am only consoled that dad is now with his family and especially his best friend John McGrath from Manor Kilbride who I would also like to remember today. R.I.P Dear Dad, will love and remember you forever xxxx
