Deepest sympathy to the Eagar family on the sad passing of Bobby .

As a Solicitor , he was a colleague who was universally admired and respected .

I was fortunate to be in his Court for some major High Court cases and he was our resident Judge for the High Court Bails list for a number of years . He was diligent , patient , perceptive and wise , with an outstanding legal knowledge and a great sense of humour , when required . It was a pleasure and an education for me , to have been an attending Solicitor in his Court for the time that he presided over the High Court Bail list and I was very saddened to hear of his death .

Was only talking to Bobby recently via LinkedIn - first contact for many years. Shocked to hear of his passing. I will always remember Bobby as the first person to introduce me to refugee support, an area which - 35 years later - is now my principal area of engagement and activity. Bobby showed me how I could use my legal training to do some good in the world. Sincere condolences to Bobby's family on the loss of a truly good person.

My sincere sympathy to all Bobby's loved ones on his death. He was one of the finest people I ever met, full of integrity and empathy. He was the first person to teach me refugee law and practice, and he did that very well. He taught me and others about the human rights and the humanity of refugees and set a standard for all of us who followed. Later interactions with him just confirmed my view of him as a fine lawyer and a fine man. He is a loss to all of us.

Hello. I was one of the Cullen family of St Stephens Green, now living in Kildare. We were thrilled to attend all the birthday parties at the home of Bobby’s parents in Stillorgan and I was in the same class as Paula at Loreto on the Green. My sister Betty was in class with Carole, and there were corresponding Cullen/Eager matches during the following years. I remember the party games in the garden and the beautiful handmade prizes and presents made by your parents. Happy, happy childhood memories but saddened by the news of those who have gone. Just last year, Bobby joined us to celebrate our 30th anniversary, where he reminded us of the profound impact of this work.

I am saddened this morning to hear of the death of Bobby Eagar. His sense of social justice, compassion and respect led him to giving his time voluntarily on the management committee of Ballymun Youth Action Project during the first decade of its existence. His contribution was of great value to that community group working to develop a community response to drug use in the area. Rest In Peace Bobby, and thank you.

I worked with Bobby for eleven years. He was a wonderful man who gave his time and wisdom to me as a young and inexperienced apprentice and then as a solicitor. He taught me some very important lessons in particular the importance of recognising the value of the service we provide to our clients and treating all of those in our justice system with respect and courtesy.

This is sad news indeed. Bobby was driven by a deep compassion and social conscience, he made an enormous contribution both professionally and privately. My sympathies to his family and many friends.

Such sad news. Bobby was a kind and generous man for all of us when we were newly qualified solicitors and a ‘go to’ expert for his advice and guidance. He wore his brilliance so lightly! Condolences to all who loved him.

So sorry to hear of Bobs passing I knew him well when he was in Chief State Solicitors Office in the Castle after 1977 and I was a young Garda over the years we met on numerous occasions and when he moved to G Sheehans solicitors. He was a kind and pleasant man and we had many chats. I was delighted at his elevation to the High Court and I got the Judicial nod when I was called to the Bar myself and entered his court. Colleagues of mine have similar sentiments and he was widely acclaimed by all as late as yesterday RIP
