From the time you met Robbie you were never treated as a colleague you were a friend, he instantly took an interest in you but never obtrusively. Robbie was the the real senior fighter, always there to guide what he called the red ar^*$s's (recruits) when they started in the fire station, discreetly guiding them through the operations, routines and the day to day living in the station.
Robbie came into his own when operating on the Ambulance, be it a lift on/off of an passenger, bringing the NURSE TO THE JUMBO!, a medical call or as most often the case responding at an accident emergency, Robbie was the calm presence, discreetly undeliberately leading, while reassuring, and showing empathy to those who needed it.
His legacy will be that of a fun loving man who could laugh at himself, who was a reliable friend who looked out and cared for others, a professional who believed that there are no short cuts when preforming his duties and proud to be tasked with the responsibilities that the work demanded from him a person who could be relied upon and held in very high esteem with great respect by everyone.
Robbie gave his time willingly, be it to the airport community by way of the Bran cardias ( assisting people traveling to or from Lourdes mostly via the North Terminal) or delivering aid to Romania and else where, all on his own time.
Robbie will be missed but no greater than by you for he always spoke in work so fondly of you all. We are lucky to have had Robbie in our lives and are grateful to you for sharing him with us.
