Dear Dermot,
I have only learned today (Saturday 16th March) through our work retirees network of Robert’s passing. I was so saddened and shocked to hear this news.
As former work colleagues you always spoke so highly of all your 3 sons. I remember so well when you were so happy that Robert had found Cecile as his partner and they were so happy to move to the “royal county”. I cannot imagine what it must be like as a parent to loose your child.

Beyond sad and sorry to hear about the loss of Rob, gone far too young! Sincere condolences to my good friend Ross, his family, Killian, Kay, Dermot and Rob's family. I feel very privileged to have spent time with Rob on many occasions. People may say this for many but Rob truly was one of a kind! Super warm, friendly, generous and hilarious...always cracking a joke with a mischievous glint in his eye...many times bordering on inappropriate which was the best part. You could always see people in his company were sitting back enjoying every moment of it. Rest in peace

I worked with Rob in Standard Life, on and off over the past 25 years. I've never met anyone with such a caring heart. He was super intelligent and so sensitive to all around him. I will miss him so much during our zoom online meetings – his stories and his quirky and deep but always humorous outlook. Everyone will miss him hugely. I think it’s safe to say that all those who worked with Rob in Standard Life are both numb and devastated. Cecile, in time I hope you get some comfort from the heartfelt messages and tributes to Rob.
Rob loved the chats, and the funny stories. He always went out of his way to help people. I sat beside him on and off over the years. In more recent years he would swing around his chair and tell me about times spent with William, and what he got up to with him at the weekend. He was hugely proud of William and Angelina, and said to me he felt so blessed that they were his a kids. He loved his family so much. With heartfelt condolences to Cecile, Angelina and William, and Rob's Mam and Dad.
