Sincere condolences to Ricky and the Deegan family on the loss of Robert. I am so sorry for your loss. He displayed exceptional bravery and strength of character in the face of extreme adversity. Although I only knew him for a short time he will live long in my memory as a great man and a courageous warrior. RIP Deego.

Most of us will probably die a boring death having only half lived. Rob died fighting for his comrades and his beliefs.
The many stories shared online and at the service today told the tale of someone who I knew as a young man that grew into a warrior and a leader on the battlefield of his choice. I felt great pride hearing those stories, having served with Robert in the past. I hope time doesn't fade that pride, especially for the Deegan family and his daughter.
They say you only live once but you live every day, you only die once.
Robert Deegan lived and died for his beliefs and his comrades, which is so much more substantial than what will be said for the rest of us.
