It was with deep sadness I heard about the untimely passing of Robert. I was fortunate to know Robert for over 40 years, first meeting in the National Rehabilitation Hospital, and then working together for more than 20 years at Spinal Injuries Ireland. Robert was always in good spirits and never had a bad word to say about anyone. My thoughts are with Gwen and his daughter Caoimhe.
Rest in peace, my friend.
Sending heartfelt condolences to Gwen and Caoimhe on the heartbreaking passing of Robert. He was such a positive and happy man with the most wonderful smile every time we met him.

Sending you so much love and strength for the hard times ahead.

RIP Robert
Incredibly sad to hear of Robbies passing. We have great memories from our table tennis and wheelchair rugby days and he was a huge asset to SII.
Sincere condolences to Gwen and Caoimhe. He so clearly loved you both intensely. Go mbeidh leaba i measc na naoimh aige x

Robert was a great support of Spinal Injuries Ireland and was very generous in giving support to fellow members and in raising funds to deliver services. I also remember Robert as a fellow Irish Paralympian.
We will all miss Robert.
May he rest in peace.
Dear Gwen & Caoimhe,
We cannot begin to imagine how you are coping with the passing of Robert. As his colleagues and friends, we knew how much you both meant to him. Every week, without fail, we’d get an update—especially about Caoimhe, of whom he was immensely proud.
Every Wednesday, Robert would arrive at the office and make his rounds, speaking to everyone, always checking in to make sure we were all doing well. And he did so with a beaming smile, no matter what he might have been going through himself.
Robert always put others first, particularly in the support he gave to people with spinal cord injuries. Until very recently, he volunteered at the NRH pizza nights as a peer supporter, offering guidance and comfort to newly injured patients.
He was the longest-serving team member at SII, having joined the organisation in 1997. Robert was incredibly proud of SII and the support it provides to individuals and families.
In more recent years, Robert joined the fundraising team—a role that perfectly suited him. It gave him the opportunity to share the vital work of SII, and with a big smile and a twinkle in his eye, no one ever escaped without making a donation.
Gwen & Caoimhe, we share in your profound loss, because as his colleagues and friends, we too are completely heartbroken. You should be so very proud of Robert and all that he achieved, with incredible resilience and kindness, in his too-short life.
With deepest sympathy,
All Robert’s friends and colleagues at SII

To try to describe the beautiful kind heart and gentle soul that is Robert Kenny feels almost impossible. To think and talk about Robert in the past is impossible at the moment. I met Robert in 1997 on the same night he met his true love and future wife. From that moment we all became inseparable, truly best friends.

We traveled the road of life together, sharing hard times and the best of times, including the joy of becoming parents to our miracle babies. Even when life grew busy and our time together was less, the phone would ring and it would be Robert’s warm and positive voice on the other end.

My deepest and heartfelt sympathy goes to all who love Robert and will miss Robert desperately. I feel a particular ache in my heart for his precious daughter Caoimhe, whom he so deeply adored, cherished and admired.

Rest in peace, gentle soul and dearest friend. I will love and miss you always. Thank you for everything.💔
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Gwen and Caoimhe...

The loss to his family is incalculable and they will be in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult of times.

May Robert's gentle soul Rest in Peace.
We didn't know Robert personally but met him many many times out & about around Kincora road & Vernon Avenue areas. We were always struck by Robert's lovely beaming smile & cheerful hello even on cold wintry days. Robert had the most beautiful face & a lovely positive uplifting energy emanated from him that left it's mark on you. We will miss seeing Robert & will think of him often. Robert is gone no further than God and God is very near to you both. He will walk beside you every day & will give you the strength to keep going.
