Bob loved playing chess with his club mates and he enjoyed talking about every game he played. He was an enthusiastic chess player all his life and leaves us with wonderful memories.

On behalf of the members of Phibsboro Chess Club, I wish to offer our condolences to Linda, Janet and family, on Bob's passing.
Bob was a member of Phibsboro Chess Club for over 50 years. He served as club secretary for many years through the 1970s and 80s and for most of his 50 years in the club he captained one of our teams, playing in the Leinster chess leagues. Over these years, he was a key figure in the success of the club.
Alongside chess, I played golf and pitch and putt with Bob. I have fond memories of the enjoyable afternoons we had.
He often spoke fondly and with pride about his family and grandchildren as they progressed.
Bob was a lovely man. May he Rest in Peace.

So sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. It was a privilege to care for him over the years — such a lovely man with a
wonderful sense of humour. He always made me smile with his stories of life in Fota, the Chess Club, and Pitch and Putt, and he spoke so proudly of his children and grandchildren. He will be very fondly remembered.
