Very sorry to hear of the sad passing of robert. He brightened up loughshinny nursing home when he came every day to visit his lovely wife ann. He loved a sing song and a chat. May he rest in peace.

So deeply saddened to hear of the sad passing of Robert, a truly larger than life gentleman.

My sincere condolences to Robert’s family on his passing. Robert was a true gentleman, and I had the pleasure of knowing him when he would come in everyday to his local shop in Skerries and he would tell stories of his life, his children and of course his lovely wife who I know was waiting for him with open arms. There was always a warm smile to greet me every time he would come in, and it became a weekly routine of Robert coming over for the chats which truly made my day. He was missed by us all when he left skerries. May he rest in Eternal Peace with his lovely wife Anne x

Uncle Robert and Auntie Anne were much loved by our side of the family - Ted as the in-law, loved Anne's sense of humour and we all admired their dancing skills. Monica loved visiting their home and the love of life which emanated from your family. Always 'Robert' (never Bob or Rob), we often remembered his visits to us, the stories of travelling and other religions he'd encountered and explored; his work in the university and the book of Kells he loved speaking about. Tricia was particularly glad to have visited a couple of times to Skerries and thanks to Rob for making that possible, to see Robert and enjoy his stories and sharing our news with him. He was convinced he'd make 90 years and in a way, he will, because his love of life was so strong we'll still be celebrating him for years to come. Thankful for joy and for a peaceful end. As our cousin Andrew would say, 'May God rest him now'. May he join Anne, his sister Monica and brothers who have gone before him, and may they raise the roof of heaven in the McCann way. All our love at this time.

I'm so sad to hear of Robert’s passing. He was a true gentleman, and I’ll always remember him fondly. I hope he and Anne are dancing together again up in heaven. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. Rest in peace.
