We are so sad to hear our lovely neighbour Bob has passed away. Our sincere condolences to all his family. We will miss chatting to him and getting his great advice on life. He was a true gentleman with a great sense of humor. May his gentle soul rest in peace. He will be sorely missed on Grange Abbey Road.

Sandra, Aimee, Mikaela, Alanna and I are so grateful for the many times we shared together with Bobby. The laughs, the story telling, the words of wisdom and the special occasions together. It was beautiful to witness the many fabulous times Bobby and my Dad (Tom) shared together most recently at the Golden Years Club - every Monday pre Club chats and then off for the day to meet other friends, play games, win at bingo, sing songs (Bobby won prizes) and enjoy great food. They were buzzing together with lots of stories to share every time. Bobby you are forever with us and we love you - rest in peace xxxx ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Two years ago, our History students had the privilege of hearing Bob tell the story of his family history in a moving and powerful tribute. Together with our students, we listened attentively to the pain and impact of the Irish civil war on the O’Brien family told with sensitivity and compassion. It was a privilege to experience the raw emotion from Bob that day. Your words and emotions have reverberated and resonated with us all lucky enough to experience what we did that day, and will continue to do so.
Thank you Bob for those precious memories. You were a true gem and gent. Rest easy in the bed of heaven.

Uncle Bobby had a gentle heart and a steady way about him, full of curiosity, creativity, and above all a keen sense of humor. I found myself thinking of him on my trip out West, he always loved his cowboys and the stories that came with them. And even though he talked up the gunfighters, I picture him riding the frontier with his pastels and a book of poetry in the saddlebag, greeting everyone with a “Howdy, partner” in his best John Wayne — singing a wee air around the campfire at night, yodeling the verses with a couple of hap-hazard taps to the Adam’s apple to keep the vibrato alive.

Uncle Bobby, you will be missed but not forgotten — you are loved and, in our memory, always.

May you be with those who’ve gone ahead, and may you rest in peace.

My heart hurts today, but I’m grateful for every memory of Uncle Bobby. He was such a steady, loving presence in this family, and it’s hard to imagine the world without him. I’ll always treasure our Irish-style breakfasts — a cup of tea, a hard-boiled egg, a few rashers, and those easy, honest conversations that somehow said more than a hundred fancy words ever could. There’s comfort in knowing he’s now surrounded by the family who went before him, held in the same love he gave so freely.

Uncle Bobby brought warmth, humor, and a quiet strength that shaped so many of our best memories. We’ll carry him with us in every story we tell and every moment he helped make better just by being there.

Sending all my love, strength, and support as we walk through this together. May he rest in peace, wrapped in the love of the family waiting for him.

I wish I could have had the opportunity to visit with you when I came to Ireland in mid-October. One of my earliest memories of traveling to Ireland is of you hiding candies in the Malahide Castle gardens and convincing me that a leprechaun had left them for me. You were always ready at any moment to be our impromptu tour guide around Howth, making sure to take plenty of photos on that trusty iPad you always had in your hands. Your family in the States will miss you deeply. Please say hello to Poppy for us when you see him. ❤️
