I would like to send my deep condolences to all of Rob’s Family and Friends. He was a pillar of strength and so hugely admired. As a junior sailor in Kinsale, I looked up to him, his incredible talents. May he now ‘Sail Away’ in peaceful waters 🙏 Kate.

To all of Rob's family and close friends, I was very saddened today to hear of Rob's death. We had only reconnected a few weeks earlier after 35 years. I was a former colleague of Rob's in RHYD. What a lovely man Rob was. I'll never forget the mischievous twinkle in his eye. Mary he rest in peace.

Just got the news......Rob, generous of spirit, warm and gentle. I am lucky enough to have seen and understood, first hand, his flair and talent. It would be hard to find another who so much embodied the term "The art of yacht design". I will now forever regret not meeting him again after many years passed.

I was saddened to hear of Rob's passing and to have missed the well deserved celebration that was held for him. I was very fond of Rob down through the years, we regularly chatted in Finishing Services in the good old days and more recently shared company together at a family wedding.

Terribly sad to hear the news. Rob was someone I always enjoyed meeting when home in Kinsale, even if briefly every few years. A person of grace and intelligence, kind and calm. Not many like that. He'll be missed, even from afar. Kinsale has lost a good guy.

It was with great sadness that I heard of Rob's passing. Having knowing Rob over my 23 years as Harbour Master, he was always kind and considerate, and he was the first person I thought of when I needed help to design the new harbour office in 2008. He nick-named it "Phil's Fort". May you rest in peace. 🙏🕯️

We are so sad for Rob's passing.

Over the time we have been living in Kinsale Rob had become one of our real Kinsale friends. This due to a mix of our respective professional worlds and leisure interests. For us he was a massive assistance with the salvage of a 60 foot Ocean Racing yacht in the middle of winter from the North Atlantic to Castlepark Marina as well as a key part of the scoping and organisation of the 2019 Solitaire du Figaro stopover in Kinsale. He was someone with an endless curiosity about his professional world and as a result a manner and ability to calmly find solutions, pragmatic solutions, to everything from our home extension to complex naval architectural challenges.

Fair winds Rob, you will be sorely missed but your contributions to the Kinsale landscape and so all our lives, will live on.
