Robert (Rob) Shanks

I remember Rob so fondly, from many years ago. We all had so many laughs, great trips on the bikes and great times. You were so good to us all, Betty.
I am so very sorry for your loss. May he rest now in gentle peace.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Rob’s passing. He was a good natured man with a quick smile who fitted well into the Tinahely Community.
He will be missed.

Condolences to all of Roberts family we have lost a true friend and neighbour Rob will be sorely missed by us all, Rob was a pure gentleman he had a heart of gold and always smiling, he was always there to lend his hand never a job to big or small that he couldn’t put his hand to, know words can describe how heartbroken we are you will be forever in our thoughts may you rest in peace

Robert’s friends in Tinahely learned of his death with deep sadness. Although he lived among us for just five years, he made many lasting friendships. This was because of his warm nature, his sense of humour and his eagerness to help his neighbours.
Robert was a man of many talents: among them a gifted mechanic, carpenter and furniture restorer. He could turn his hand to almost any job and make it more beautiful with his creative flair. The restoration of his home at Knockatomcoyle was a testament to these skills.
We are glad that, with his beloved German Shepherds, he found his Yukon among us in the hills of Tinahely, and we will miss him very much.Our condolences to his family and many friends.
May he now rest in peace.

Truly saddened Betty, to hear of Robert's passing. As you'll recall he was one of my first primary school students, we got on so well, sometimes he even travelled to school in my car with me. Like many others, his lovely manner with folk, his genuine smile and love of alsatians will always stay with me. May you get strength from his brothers and two girls.

So sorry to hear this. Robert Shanks the happy head on you around the town when we were growing up. Such a lovely guy pure messer in the loveliest way. And your dogs. You used to get a great kick out of your dogs going wild at anyone passing your house.!! Rest In Peace with the other gone too soon young people from Greystones. It’s getting crowded up there.
