We were so sorry to learn from friends in Blackrock only this evening that your lovely Roddy died last month. We were very fond of him and his love of life was infectious. Thinking of you all at this very difficult time .

Really upset to have missed the funeral, I’m in total shock since I was only talking to him a few weeks ago and he was in great form. What a huge loss. My thoughts are with you Lyn and the family. RIP Roddy.

Uncle Rodd, it is very hard to believe that I won’t see you in our Ireland trip. I already miss you dearly. It was a gift knowing you, and I am eternally grateful for the memories we created with you. The trip to Inchydoney and Beara, all those wines we drank, the party you and Lyn threw for our wedding at your beautiful house, all the Dean’s Grange visits, oh and picking up my dresses from airport, who can forget all that kindness (even though you never let me drive your BMW)! I cannot forget your warm hugs and beautiful smile, your humor and your fun character, and the ability to bring laughter to us every time we saw you. Your generous spirit and unwavering zest for life served as a constant inspiration. What a life to live….
Your spirit will forever live in our memories and we I will hold them close to my heart. You will be deeply missed.

Roddy, my best friend's Dad, marked my teenage years and beyond, showing me kindness and generosity. I loved being in his company, he was so much fun. It was with a sincere sense of shock and sadness that I learned of the untimely passing of Roddy.

I had the privilege of knowing Roddy socially over a number of years and he was always such a fun loving, entertaining and charming man. I will treasure the memories I have of him and especially the few days he stayed with me in Galway one summer a few years ago.

As an uncle, Rod didn’t just move the bar, he took it right into Heaven with him. Very proud to be called after him. Reminded of our shared family trips over the years: River Shannon, Spain, Silver Strand, and Beara, West Cork. He was an avid reader and we shared some great books over the years. I even keep one of his Esso pens on my desk. He was kindred spirits with my mum (Mairead) and we will miss him dearly. Roddy a true friend so sadly missed! A gentleman and character.Many great parties and sailing trips were had, and not to be forgotten Roddy was the helmsman when Therepi won the National Shipman Championship in 1996. Safe passage and fair winds ! RIP.
