Claire, am so very sorry to hear that you've lost your wonderful man. If ever there was a couple who had cracked it, it was you and Roger! He was a complete gentleman, but always with a mischievous twinkle. You must be beyond sad. Am away, but will be in touch when I get back. Much love, Marie

Claire I offer you my deepest sympathy on the unexpected death of your beloved husband Roger. He gave so much to the village of Malahide and to the sailing world in Malahide and Howth. His generosity of spirit will long be remembered by us all.
Deepest sympathy, Nora and Brian.
Dear David,
I was so shocked and saddened to hear of your lovely dad’s passing. Life is just very cruel to have taken such a vibrant and great man. I liked and respected him so much and he has been such a part of Malahide and Sailing life for my entire life it’s hard to believe he is no longer with us in body. He always had so much time for me whenever I chatted to him and so much fascinating information on the history of Malahide to share, something I was always eager to learn more about. In recent years, I met him in the museum where we had a great chat about his books and work And he was so generous with his knowledge. He will be remembered by me as our very important local historian, kind friend, and utter gentleman. May his soul rest in peace. I am sending my sympathies to you and his precious grandchildren and wider family.
Love Emma

The passing of Roger is such sad news for many friends nationwide but especially for Claire their son and family. He was the quintessential gentleman but behind his gentle persona was a man of courage , strength and integrity . I had personal experience of these qualities when I was fortunate to be under his tutorship when we were in the Royal in College Green Dublin. He certainly touched many lives throughout life's journey and never is it more true than the reality that he will be sorely missed ….To Claire and family I send my deepest sympathies.
