In Memory of my friend Rolf
Rolf was probably my first real friend — the kind of friend who leaves a permanent mark. Not only a friend to me, but to my whole family! He served alongside my brother Duncan in the British Army, and from those days of service came a bond forged in loyalty, strength, and wit.
A true music lover — the kind who didn’t just listen, but shared. It was Rolf who first introduced me to the wonder that is J.J. Cale, opening a door to sounds and stories I might never have found on my own.
His humour was razor-sharp, his sarcasm legendary, but beneath that wicked grin was a heart that cared deeply. He made people laugh, think, and feel — and he did it without trying to be anything other than himself.
The horrible disease we all fear may have taken him far too early, but nothing can erase the memories, the music, and the mischief we have shared. His voice will still echo in the spaces between songs he introduced me too.

Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
Be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what he would want:
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.”
