Ronan Daly

My fiance and I met Ronan in March of 2025 while I was tracing my Irish roots in Donegal, and we stayed at his place for a month or so.

Thru conversation, I found out we had more things in common than just being Irish including our kids who had similar jobs in high-tech and were roughly the same age. We also shared backgrounds in engineering to a degree and experiences in Arizona. The conversations had an impact on me.

One night, here in California, we were talking about Ronan and our experience with him, his hospitality, insight in Portnoo...all of a sudden the phone rings, and it's him calling from Portnoo!

We were supposed to return to spend 6 months in Portnoo at his place in Sept/Oct 2025 but I had some things to take care of here in the states, and sadly that didn't happen as a result.

Ronan was a bright guy, interesting, direct and unassuming from our perspective and conversations--the time we knew him was easily eclipsed by the natural friendship.

The world needs more people like Ronan, and we are so sorry that we didn't get a chance to spend those six months in Portnoo.

Ronan played a big role in my life. Growing up in Terenure as friends . To going to New York, Detroit and myself ending up in San Francisco. He had a great influence on me. Without Ronan I would have never have gone to the USA. He was a great engineer and sportsman . He loved to hike. I will miss him. He left without permission.

I met Ronan many years ago through a friend and spent many a day with him in park view ave in Harolds cross working on cars, and his bull terrier
Gypsy, kept a close eye on you, He used to breed pet rats as well, I suppose he was a bit unusual, but we always stayed in contact by phone
