It was such a pleasure to work with Ronnie over the years, he was an absolute gentleman and always interested in the work of the Charitable Trust, giving good advice and taking a deep interest and having enormous compassion for our seriously injured rugby players. Ronnie was one of the original Trustees of the IRFU Charitable Trust in 1978, he has left an enormous legacy.

We were deeply saddened to hear that Ronnie had passed. A gentleman, an example to all on how to be fair, how to treat people. The flag bearer for Irish Rugby. When rugby went professional, Ronnie and Syd Millar and Tommy Kiernan steered the professional game through the provinces. The system they set up is now the template universally admired throughout the world.
Dapper, always suited and booted. Player, captain, coach, President, World Rugby,Lions, Ireland, Wanderer, he was the classiest man in Irish Rugby.
He had a great sense of humour too. He roared with laughter when I told him once that being a Legend was great if you remember that it has the same spelling as “leg end” !!
He leaves behind the warmest feelings and memories and a family who adored and loved him as he did them.
