Deepest sympathy to all of Rory's family and friends on your tragic loss, it was said he "had an inability to turn the other way in the face of injustice"; many of us feel like this but don't have his immense courage and bravery to act on it, he was a real hero, may he Rest in Peace.

At the 8th of October at the Kharkov morgue I had the honour to say goodbye to Rory Mason and Steve Munroe who laid down their lives voor the freedom of Ukraine. Thank you Rory and Steve. Your sacrifice made a real difference and your names will not be forgotten. I hope that this small message may give some comfort to the family.

Your response to the loss of your brave, courageous, ethical, fearless and generous son only reflects all these wonderful qualities back to you his immediate family.
His shortened life can be a reminder to us all to stand firm in face of tyranny, cruelty, genocide, lies and greed.


His inner sense of justice inspired him to carry out his aspirations in life. He will be at peace with himself and all others who follow their true aspirations.

I never knew Rory but feel compelled to offer my condolences for his selfless act of bravery. He couldn't know of the evil and look the other way. I'm so sorry that his courage is causing you so much pain. Rory like so many others have had their lives cut short but I pray that because of Rory and others like him the children and people of Ukraine get to live long lives free from tyranny. You should be so proud. Sorry for your loss!

Rory was a brave young fella on the Field of our GAA juvenile team,so not surprised that he headed to Ukraine to help defend that country .we are thinking of ye all at this sad time.
