My sincere sympathy to the Scanlon and Rogers family on the sad passing of Rose. In the late 1950s, I taught that little fair-hair girl in Ughtyneill National School. Her First Communion photo which I submitted in 2017 is in the Ughtyneill N.S 50th anniversary book, 'Memories Of Our School'. My grandfather, Patrick Halpin, Ardamagh, married Rose's grandaunt, Jane Rogers who sadly, died within a very few years the mother of two small babies gone. They were Brigid and Catherine Halpin, first cousins of Rose's father, Frank Rogers. Those two girls, Brigid and 'Katie (rip) were my half-aunts. Patrick Halpin's second wife was my grandmother. Growing up in Newtown, Kilmainham -Wood, I played many days with Rose's siblings, Maureen and Paddy in the rock field beside Newtown bog when Frank and Anne with their children lived right there at the Black Lane.
