So saddened to hear of Roy's untimely passing. I worked with him for 13 years and may have to take some responsibility for his interest in cycling and upgrading his bikes. We had so many chats on the subject, I'm surprised time was found for anything else!
His friendly face and sense of humor will be sadly missed.

Thinking of Maree, John and family at this difficult time.
Roy was such a lovely, warm, kind man. Sincere condolences to all of his family and friends. RIP.

A welcoming smile. A gentleman. We will miss you very much.

He will be missed in Bank of America.
You would always have sunshine on a rainy day with Roy in the office. What a
lovely man. So sorry to hear of his passing. Thinking of all his family.
Sincere sympathy and condolences to Maree, John, Mel and all the family on Roy's passing, and remembering each of you in our prayers. Roy was a wonderful person and a very special friend to all who knew him. He brightened our days every day, always an inspiration, smiling, kind, funny and helpful. He is irreplacable and will be so missed. Roy, rest in peace dear friend.
I was about to get the Luas at Harcourt Street one day when I bumped into Roy. In between work appointments we both hid away for a sneaky coffee. 40 minutes later I was still enjoying his authenticity, his wit and his warmth. Another day we cycled the Wicklow hills, he being an experienced W100/200, me not having the courage to do any more than the "1". Despite Roy's speech impediment (which we spoke about over that coffee) he always had a beautiful ease about him. While his speeches in Toastmasters were always so well prepared and presented my abiding memory will be his short banter style responses to topics always delivered with an ending quip. Roy, you left us much, much too soon. My condolences to Maree and John and all Roy's family.
Please accept my condolences on the passing of Roy. He was a true gentleman and a pleasure to work with - always had a kind word for everyone. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues in Bank of America. Rest in peace Roy.
Maree, I was so saddened to hear of the news of Roy's passing, my sympathies to you, John and family. As a McGuire graduate, I was so impressed by Roy's leadership, his dedication and positivity and I like so many others benefitted greatly from this. He will be dearly missed.
I am so sad to hear about Roy's sudden passing. I knew Roy through Toastmasters and I always looked forward to his speeches and his topic responses. I will always remember his humourous speech on "Belly Button Fluff" and the family Cat. I remember spending a day in his company when we travelled to Belfast in 2013 for a Toastmasters competition. We sat beside each other on the way up and down on the bus and he was such great company. Roy was a thorough gentleman and was extremely funny and witty. He was a brilliant speaker and his topic responses were funny and witty. He was always in good form and extremely friendly. I sat beside him once during a competition where I competed and as he was a judge I think he gave me extra points!!
I will miss meeting Roy and I offer my sincere condolences to Maree and family. I am sure Roy is in heaven with Joe Grehan another fellow Toastmasters who passed away in Feb 2018.
Yours sincerely,
Mary Connolly
On behalf of the District 71 Leadership Team of Toastmasters International, deepest condolences to Roy's family friends and fellow members of the Dublin Toastmasters club. Roy was a treasured and much loved member of our Toastmaster community.
I'd like to offer my condolences to Roy's family. I was so sad to hear of his passing. He was such a kind and friendly man. He will be greatly missed around the office. RIP Roy.
I had the pleasure of working with Roy for 3.5 years. He was always a friendly face and had a good sense of humour. I even named a teddy bear I had won as a prize after him which was running joke of ours. He really would do anything for you. I was training for the marathon and he knew I was going to be working from the office in town for the day, he offered to take my bag and drop it back to Sandyford to facilitate my training. Going back into the office whenever that will be will be a sad day knowing that the friendly face in the postroom is no longer with us.

RIP Roy Deevy a true gentleman

Roy was a star in the galaxy of Dublin Toastmasters 2601 and a great friend to my late father, Joe Grehan (1918-2018) who always spoke most warmly of Roy’s kindness and good humour. Joe enjoyed many of Roy’s scintillating speeches in Buswells Hotel. I also fondly remember Roy’s lovely cheerful personality having met him occasionally at Toastmasters. I am especially grateful to Roy and Maree for their kindness in visiting my Dad during one of his convalescences. I pray that Maree, John and all of Roy’s loved ones will somehow find consolation in all the wonderful happy memories of Roy’s loving and cheerful personality. May the Lord grant rest to his gentle soul.
