We will miss his wonderful smile , good humour and hilarious quirky sayings. Meeting with Roy in Waterville was always a joy and he put you in good humour for the rest of the day. There’s a new star in the night sky now, twinkling like no other. 🌟

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Roy. He was a gentleman. May he Rest in Peace. Condolences to Ruth and the Horgan family.

A lovely man whose daily presence with his beloved Susie around the park in Knockrea will be sadly missed. He loved to chat and would bring me up to date on the local news whenever I got back from overseas. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

I only found out about Roy's passing this morning when I called to groom his beloved Susie.

The first time Roy booked me to call to his home to groom Susie was in April 2022, and after Roy was content that I would take good care of her, he left me alone to carry out my job. As is usual after I groom a dog for the first time I filled in my card, referencing what I had done etc, and at the end wrote - Owner dotty about dog. Over the last 3 years I witnessed that on every visit.

From that day on Roy would book me on a regular basis to take care of Susie. I can honestly say that I really looked forward to each and every visit. The task of grooming took approx 2 hours, but I always planned for at least a half hour before and after to have a chat with Roy. These conversations were always memorable and will stay with me.

I know from how fondly Roy spoke about his family how much he adored them, and the life that he was living. He wouldn't have swapped it for bars of gold !

My thoughts are with Ruth and his family at this most difficult time.

It was with great sadness that we heard that Roy had passed recently. He was a great neighbour and will be sadly missed. You couldn't have asked for a better neighbour than Roy, not only did he build the houses, but he stayed around to make sure that they stayed up too. He will be missed for his infectious laugh, his quick word and his commentary on the horseracing and Munster and Ireland rugby. He was a gent to his fingernails and he will be sadly missed.
