It was with shock and sadness that we found out about Russel's very untimely death, and extend our deepest condolences to his family.
We have known Rusty for many years, I've fished and cycled with him, many many times, and we had the pleasure of him working with us in Mike's Bikes for some time, where he charmed everyone who came in with his gentle witty and very patient manner. When my son, whilst still in school, showed promise on the guitar, Rusty saw that promise, and not only encouraged it, but was often gracious and humble enough to let him play a couple of songs in his stead. when the band gigged in the Orchard.
A real gem, one in a million, and he'll be sorely missed.
Rest now Rusty...now you can play for the King Himself.
Ed, Monica and Kevin Rowe
So sad to hear this news of Russel passing, we had the privilege of sharing our pre school time together in Royal Terrace Dun Laoghaire, we later met again in his band years , what a fabulous guy , can’t believe it , seems not so long ago , our condolences to Russell’s family, friends and everyone else close to him ! May he rest in piece 💕
Was shocked to hear of Russell passing. I had the pleasure of working in a bar in Mallorca in 1997 where Russell played in the band. We unfortunately never reconnected since, Russell was a fantastic guy and seriously talented, I heard my fair share of live acts over close to 20 years working in the bar business and Russell I always remember as probably the best guitarist I've ever heard. I've a great funny story I might hopefully get to share with his band mates in Big Digger if I come across them playing some night, he definitely got 1 up on me and I still tell the story today! My sincerest condolences to Russell's wife,Mother and colleagues, rest in peace Russell, I'll never forget you as the gent you were 🌹
My sincere condolences to all of Russell's family and friends, and his Big Digger family.

Hi Russell and his loved ones.
I’m so sad to hear your passing.
We met few years ago in Bumblefoot’s guitar camp and we had nice days there together. We spoke about music, guitars and life in general. We both like photography too and after camp we changed some photos and I got some very nice photos that you had taken.
Your time clear ended much too soon. I wish you peace, love and rocking to other side. And for your loved ones I wish strength to your sorrows.
Many good memories from Grosvenor tce with Rusty & "T" (Dorothy)! Shaking the neighbours windows with smoke on the water 😂! Band competitions in the Colimore & gigs all over Dublin! Lucky enough to have Rus & Amigos play our wedding! Sunday nights with the FS crew in Paddy Cullens.... Where he'd quietly slip away after to go fishing in Cong! An absolute gentleman & rock to so many people! RIP my friend

Absolutely devestated to hear of the passing of Russell Taylor. I was lucky to get to know him during a Music Composition course in Lockdown and he was always funny cracking jokes and so easy to talk too. As someone like me that was never confident and starting out as a musician, Russell was always so patient with me and never hesitated to help me and give good advice and support.

I wish I was able to say goodbye to him and to know how much I was lucky to have met him. It has been a privilege to call him my friend and my mentor with guitar. It was a pleasure to make a trip down from Nenagh, County Tipperary to attend his funeral service.

Dear Dorothy and Jena,
Jane and I would like to express our condolences on the passing of Russell. Although we only knew him for a short time as a friend, neighbor and fellow musician, it was clear he was an exceptional person. I enjoyed our conversations about music, guitars (and assorted pedals), etc. I was looking forward to getting to play with him a bit on our next visit to Ireland. It is always especially sad when someone so young passes, but he has clearly left his mark on his friends and neighbors. Sending love.

our sincere condolences to Russell's family on his passing, he was such a bright light and amazing guitarist who we have had the pleasure over the years seeing him play, RIP
Devastating news. We were lucky enough to know Russell through his music and the musical company he kept —a rare soul you meet only once in a lifetime. The kind of man who walks into a room, picks up a guitar, and permanently rearranges the way you hear the world.

Dublin has lost one of its finest guitarists, Big Digger has lost a brother, and countless people have lost a friend who felt like family.

Our hearts goes out to Jena, his family, his circle of musical friends, and especially his bandmates. The silence he leaves behind is deafening.
Rest easy, Russell. The strings will never sound the same. Ar deis de go raibh a hAnam.
We are all deeply saddened by the loss of our good friend Russell. We will never forget you and will always keep you in our prayers. Sending love to Jena his mum and all the family and his close friends. Rest in peace Russell we will miss you dearly ❤️❤️❤️

My gran and grandad lived in the same lane as Russell and his mum and you'd hear him jamming away whenever you passed by the house. i knew Russell like that since forever and always found him to be a kind friendly and considered person and his mum as well. last summer i went for a walk with my kid and showed him the lane and bumped into Russell who was out for a cycle and he invited us in for a cup of tea and a chat with his mum. Thats the man he was, an ordinary decent bloke. love and care to his family at this difficult time.

I was in St Andrews with Russell 1980-86. He was one of the few who I clicked with. Russell was such a gentle caring soul. I havent seen him for nearly 40 years but his influence remained with me. I'm sorry not to have kept in touch with him. Sincere condolences to his family and friends, but be assured, his star will shine brightly and he will be remembered by those of us whom he guided through the years.
