Sally (Sarah) Blake

Such fond memories of Sally. One of life's stand out characters. Still see her at her desk in the ESB giving great advice on the best appliances to buy. We still have one she recommended decades ago!
I also remember her generosity when my Gran was ill, calling in to help out, plus preparing lots of pastries for everyone.
Back in the seventies when foreign travel was still very much a novelty Sally was going to exotic places like Japan and meeting its Empress or exploring Korea and other parts of the Far East, many years before adventurers such as Michael Palin.
Later, Sally was invited by the heiress Doris Duke to work for her in the United States, spending time then with legends such as Elizabeth Taylor and Peggy Lee.
Also there is the great charity work she did with Daniel O'Donnell over a long period of time.
These were just some of Sally's experiences, but for many locally she will be most remembered for the trojan work she did as pro of the Letterkenny international folk festival. Over many years she would travel to every corner of Europe in search of exciting folk groups and bringing them all the way here. Sally you lived life to the full, and will never be forgotten.

It is with heavy heart I send my condolences to John, Mickey, Alex and Kay. A Letterkenny legend for sure. May Sally rest in eternal peace.

Sally was a lady, generous, warm hearted and always ready to help others. The International Folk Festival was something we all looked forward to, and she was the centre of its success.
Her engaging personality enabled Sally to book unforgettable people from far and wide to take part in it, and create memories that will last.
God bless you Sally, you were a good friend to many and have gone to your reward!
