So sorry to hear about Sandra’s passing. I went to school with her in Ballycastle and caught up with her again many years later in RTÉ, where I heard all about Jimmy and Clodagh. She was a lovely, talented lady; fun and unassuming; proud of her roots and her family. Gone too soon. Suaimhneas Síoraí uirthí.

As a neighbour who grew up with Sandra one couldn't but think of Sandra without acknowledging her warmth, fun loving and caring attitude to life. I particularly remember her maturity and calmness when on a visit to Los Angeles last century; when we were driving along the freeway when one of her passengers wondered 'why were the overhead bridges swaying so much?' Sandra with her calmness and wit responded that in Mayo you have the 'Singing Bridge' whereas here in LA we have the 'Swinging Bridges' It was only when Sandra got us all safely back to our abode that Sandra revealed that we had just experienced an earthquake.

I had the extreme pleasure of turning a colleague into a friend with Sandra. We met in RTE, but had walked a similar path before that, with adventures in Channel 6 & TV3... I always wanted to know who this famous Sandra was, when I saw her name on countless scripts and countdown clocks, but it was an office in D4 that eventually brought us together.
A proud woman, always shouting for the green & red, loved nothing more than a chat and a good laugh...and plenty of laughs we had, especially with my constant comeback for her of..."Dublin for Sam, Mayo for Sambos!"
A good sport, creative, funny, so so kind & caring and so proud of her beloved Jimmy and Clodagh Belle. Her eyes always lit up when she spoke about you both.

Sandra was a facilitator for the Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Programme in Éire Óg. She was fully committed to the programme and its aims. Sandra was a joy to work with and had a wonderful way with the participants. We were deeply saddened to hear about her untimely passing.
