‘Granny’

She was a card shark with a knowing smile,
Witty and sharp in her own special style.
She loved to swim, light and free,
At home in the water as she was with you and me.
Her letters were loving - though hard to read at times,
Filled with her warmth between the lines.
Cousins galore, games on the lawn,
Rock pools explored from dusk until dawn.
Then home we’d run when she’d call us to tea,
With lunch and dinner ready - yummy as can be.
Her cottage was warmth, her table was art -
She fed both our stomachs and each of our hearts.
To our wonderful Granny,
How missed you will be.

As a neighbour of the Cleary family for almost 50 years, have enjoyed many interesting chats with Billy and Sarah, especially about her family car racing history!! She was a lovely lady and will be missed by us all.
