So sad to have missed Sarah's passing. An unique lady who put her incomparable but physically invisible stamp on the Burren landscape. May her gentle and noble soul rest in peace among the gentians, orchids and mountain avens that she cherished so much.
Many condolences to all of Sarah's friends and Mary Ann's family. Sarah was one of my grandfather's nieces. Of all of the hundreds of descendants from my Murphy great grandparents, she was the last to be still living in Ireland. The rest of us live worldwide. Sarah was a delight to be with. Anne & I had the honour of being able to visit her on three different occasions, when we travelled from the other side of the globe to be there. It was also an honour to get to know Mary Ann and to learn so much about the love of the written word they both favoured. Finally I feel a real sadness to have had so few times to be with this member of my family, but understand and cherish the fantastic heritage that we are part off. Blessings to you all.
We were so sad to hear of Sarah’s death. We visited Sarah and Mary Ann in 2003 and were overwhelmed by their fun and generosity. The most interesting and funny couple of wonderful women we’ve ever met!! Please accept our condolences Mary Ann. Take care.

My sincere condolences Mary Anne for such a sad loss. It was such a pleasure for my sister Lorraine and I to meet you both about a year and half ago on our travels from New Zealand. Cousin Sarah was our only known relative left in Ireland. (Her mother and my grandfather were sister and brother).
She was such a terrific woman and will be greatly missed.

Regards
Philip Murphy (NZ)
Sincere sympthy to Mary Anne on Sarah's passing. We have so many fond memories of the Poyntz family as our dear friends and neighbours in Victoria Place, New Ross.
Sincere Sympathy to all, RIP Sarah.
Condolences to Mary Anne on the death of Sarah. Sarah was a first cousin of my Dad Jack. It was a privilege to attend the launch of her book A Burren Journal in Ballyvaughan and the launch of her memories of growing up in New Ross Memory Emancipated back in New Ross. As a Toastmaster I have used pieces from Memory Emancipated over the years and my fellow Toastmasters have been introduced to this wonderful and interesting lady. Sleep well dear Sarah from the Campile cousins.
I never had the privilege of knowing Sarah but knew of her from a relation of hers. She seems to have lived a really full life and shared her experience through her writings and her beloved Co. Clare. Condolences to her family and friends. Martina Quinn, Co. Meath and late of Galway City.
My condolences to Mary Anne, it was a privilege to visit them both and chat over the last few years.. May Sarah rest in peace..
Sarah was my first cousin once removed. She shared her full name (Sarah Harriet Poyntz) with my late mother and my greatgrandmother. My condolences to Mary Ann and all her family.
Never met Sarah but loved her writings, especially her wonderful columns in The Guardian about the Burren. They are still available online - provocative, funny and full of love and concern for the area. May Sarah rest in peace.
Sincere condolences to Mary Ann on Sarah's passing. She was a wonderful lady.
