The Koppenhofer chlann is saying goodbye to their
matriarch, Nanny Sadie.
A mournful time where we cry, process, story tell, laugh and sit in silence. We looked through many photos of you and shared them with each other. We have so many photos of you. Each photograph accompanied by echos of your laughter or sayings that only we can hear. Oh you really did laugh a lot.
In every picture we see and feel your spirit and joy as we weep and ache that you will only exist again through our memories shared - And nanny they will be shared, so you will live on through us.
The past now so precious, it will forever only be
delicately spoken of to keep it safe. Each tearful moment, I remind myself that we are all
made up of pieces of you - your character, divilment, care, faith and joy for life. You never faultered over your 89 years. We felt your heavy heart as you said goodbye to your daughter, family and friends before you but you even then, showed us that you can still enjoy life.
You taught us family values and the importance of
being a strong woman and leader - You also taught us how to play poker as kids haha and that Friday is for family (or “fambily” as you’d say) - where no matter the age we would always ask if we
could have a bar from the fridge even though you'd
stock it full so we didn’t have to. But still we
would.
We respected you and loved you and contrary to our height difference Nanny, I looked up to you and I always will.
Rest well Nanny, you were so loved x
