We were both very sad to learn Sally had passed away and gone to a higher place. She was in school with Michael’s mum. Sally had the most radiant energy and one left feeling refreshed after being in her company. A very special and a kind lady. Thinking of you all.

Sincere sympathies to Bernadette , Carmel , Caroline , Una and all the O’Donoghues. I certainly will remember those lovely twinkly eyes and that lovely hearty laugh Sally had. What a treasure. She will be greatly missed by you all and her large circle of friends. Remembered fondly.

Little did I know that I would meet another person who had a sister called Maelisa and who called her mother Mama. I was introduced to Caroline in Boston in 1997 and we connected over the fact that we called our Mothers Mamma and each had a sister called Maoliosa, Meleesa in English.
Through Caroline, I met Mrs O Donoghue and I can confirm what has already been said that she was like a breath of fresh air, had a wonderful sense of fun and good humour. She had that twinkle in her eye as if she could get up to any kind of devilment and from what I have just read, she did! Mrs O Donoghue was so very welcoming to me and my Mamma and friend when we visited her and Caroline in Corrigeen. Her children are very talented musically and otherwise and they also have a deep sense of faith, which they got from their mother.. Many of them are very involved in their church, where they are in the choir or play an instrument. I had not seen her recently but had spoken to her over the phone around the time of her 90th birthday.'
When I visit Caroline, in the future, it will be quite different. Mrs O Donoghue will not be sitting by the range warming herself or making a pot of tea. The heart of the home will be gone but she will be very fondly remembered by me and by all her friends as this book attests.
May she rest in peace. Lord have mercy on her soul. mk
